Description
Description
In short: The Venum Challenger shin guards are lightweight synthetic leather shin guards with anatomical fit and hook-and-loop closure, suitable for kickboxers and Muay Thai practitioners training with moderate impact. You choose these shin guards for the combination of reliable protection and comfortable lightweight design.
These shin guards are designed for kickboxers and Muay Thai practitioners at recreational to intermediate level who regularly spar and do technical training. The light padding offers sufficient protection for moderate impact, but for intensive competition preparation or heavy sparring you're better off choosing a model with thicker foam padding. The anatomical design follows the natural shape of your shin and the hook-and-loop closure provides an adjustable fit.

Venum Challenger versus more expensive models
The main difference between the Challenger and more expensive Venum shin guards is in the material and padding thickness. The Challenger is made of synthetic leather and has light padding, while premium models often use genuine leather and thicker multi-layer foam. For recreational training and technical sparring, the Challenger offers excellent protection at a sharp price. If you're training for intensive competition preparation or training heavily multiple times a week, a model with thicker padding and genuine leather is a better investment for long-term use.
Size selection and fit
To find the right size, measure the length of your shin from your knee to the top of your foot and compare it with the size chart. Note: sizes M, L and XL refer to the length of the guard, not your clothing size or shoe size. Check the size chart carefully, as a shin guard that's too large will shift during training and offer less protection, while one that's too small won't cover your entire shin. The hook-and-loop closure offers some adjustability, but cannot fully compensate for an incorrect size.
Frequently asked questions
What level are the Venum Challenger shin guards suitable for?
The Challenger shin guards are suitable for recreational to intermediate kickboxers and Muay Thai practitioners. The light padding offers sufficient protection for technical training and moderate sparring. For intensive competition preparation or very heavy sparring, we recommend a model with thicker padding, as the Challenger is primarily designed for comfortable daily training use with moderate impact.
How do I choose the right size shin guards?
Measure the length of your shin from the bottom of your knee to the top of your foot and compare it with the size chart. Sizes M, L and XL refer to the length of the guard in centimetres, not your clothing size. A good fit means the guard covers your entire shin without shifting. If you're unsure between two sizes, choose based on your exact shin length according to the size chart.
Can these shin guards also be used for MMA training?
These shin guards are primarily designed for kickboxing and Muay Thai, where you work standing. For MMA training where you also do groundwork, they are less suitable because the hook-and-loop closure and design are not optimised for wrestling aspects. If you're looking for shin guards specifically for MMA, choose a model that also provides protection during takedowns and groundwork with a more flexible design.
How do I maintain synthetic leather shin guards?
Wipe the shin guards after each training session with a damp cloth to remove sweat and bacteria. Let them dry completely in a ventilated area, not in direct sunlight or on a heater. Never wash them in the washing machine, as this will damage the synthetic leather and padding. For extra freshness you can use a special sports equipment spray. Proper maintenance significantly extends their lifespan.
What is the difference between synthetic leather and genuine leather in shin guards?
Synthetic leather is lighter, cheaper and easier to maintain than genuine leather, but generally less durable with intensive use. Genuine leather adapts better to your leg and lasts longer, but costs more and requires more maintenance. For recreational training two to three times a week, synthetic leather offers excellent value for money. If you train daily or very intensively, genuine leather is a better long-term investment.

- Foot part: measure from the ankle to the beginning of the toes.

Very helpful staff. They take their time to help you and are knowledgeable.
Helped well and very satisfied with my purchase!
I used the smelly boxing gloves from the gym. And because I really enjoy hitting a punching bag. Looking for my own pair of gloves. That's how I found Fight Company. Friendly help. Tried them on and felt the difference between the brands. Spent a bit more than expected but happy with my purchase.
I visited The Fight Company in person because I was looking for new training gear. I was helped excellently by Amine. He took the time to clearly explain the differences between the different gloves and what they're best used for. I was also able to try on several models, which helped me make a good choice.
Ultimately I chose the Olive Green Twins gloves, a Twins head guard and a nice Venum gym bag. The service was friendly, professional and honest. A neat shop with lots of expertise. Compliments to Amine and the team!
